Is wellness on your list for 2023?
Greetings friends,
If improving your health and well-being is on your list for 2023, can I share some thoughts? I follow a practice called Intuitive Eating that invites you to trust your body rather than imposing an external set of rules on yourself. Diet culture has hurt so many of us with unrealistic standards, often unhealthy practices, and so much shame. But you can take back control. And there are an increasing number of resources you can turn to for help.
Before I begin, please remember, I am a holistic health coach. I am not a doctor, dietician, or therapist. Any advice given here should be discussed with your care team.
If you like to keep up on the science, minus the hype, consider giving yourself some supportive, loving guidelines based on science from places like the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
Did you know that 90% of the serotonin (your “feel good” hormone) is produced in your gut? Emotional health and physical health as more interconnected than we can understand. Check out Dr. Drew Ramsey’s work on the connections between food and mental health. I love his books “Eat Complete” and the “Happiness Diet.”
If you want to understand the harm diet culture is causing all of us and explore the path out, Christy Harrison hosts a podcast called Food Psych and has written a book called The Anti-Diet that are excellent.
Community is another important piece of the wellness puzzle. The Blue Zone is a great resource for creating a healthy community around wellness and publishes fantastic recipes.
